Issue # 001 - SUDDENLY! A Wild Thing Appears! [Action]

Falling dreams are normal. You lock up with a start in your bed whenever you hit the ground, blink up at the ceiling before rolling over and going back to bed. Or you wake up mid fall, hit the carpet, groan, then climb back in to fall asleep again. Or try to. They're universal. If you can fall or fly or know of the concept- you can have a falling dream.

Ben Grimm has flying dreams, most often. Not the ones where you sail along in the middle of nowhere in nothing but your pajamas- flight dreams of controls and cockpits and the thrill of the test. Pushing a carefully crafted machine to the limit and then some. Twisting mid air and hitting the highest peak before plummeting down with all the weight of gravity wrapping around his gut and giving it a solid yank. That's his kind of falling dream.

Normally when he has them, he wakes up when he hits the ground.

Waking up mid fall is odd.

Waking up literally mid-air?

A revolt'n development.

He can't see or hear past the rush of wind, can't really get a good look at the ground beyond an impression of trees, houses, water way out over to the side. No sign of Reed, Sue, or Johnny. Nowhere soft to land either.

"Aw $%#@%!"

The landing's rough. He's had rougher, but he thinks he skips a few times. Barrels through a few trees. Clips a building, glances off a roof somewhere. Lands in...he has no idea. But the wall shears open like tissue paper and he finally rumbles to a stop, swearing in a low, gravely voice.

"...hate when that happens."

[He shrugs and starts looking along the shelves, wait'n for Sue to point out what she needed.]

I recommend it. Bruce is always a nice guy, fun t'talk to. He gets...stuff.

[Him. Bruce has always gotten him real well.]

[Sue laughs and pushes open the door to the grocery]

Villains always seem to want to monologue. I don't get it.

[Loki had been like that too. Clint can think of a half dozen ways they could've got out of the research facility in half the time.]

Maybe I'll have time here, or even when I get home. Doubt he's planning to stick around though.

Y'never know.

[He shrugs and holds the door open with a hand, ducking down to scuttle in sideways.]

Blam'n tiny doors.

[And she's gathering up chicken and stuff to go with it.]

Guess time will tell once this mess with Loki is all over.

[He follows them inside.]

You need me to grab anything, Sue?

Gotta Bruce here, don't we? Might not be th'one from your place but he tends t'be the same from world t'world. I'll be bring'n him in on the Poker nights too if he wants.

[Ben did as he usually did and held his arms out for Sue to fill up. Walk'n, talk'n shopp'n cart, that's him.]

Clint, why don't you get some beer?

[Sue starts handing things over to Ben. Chicken, a bag of rice, a box of soda, some other stuff she knew Ben liked too.]

[He grinned and then headed off to grab some beer.]

This okay with you?

I'll haveta pour it in a jug t'drink, but yeah.

[He shrugs and makes the odd snag for something he'd like beyond what Sue remembers. Even if she grabs most everything he'd think of. just some extra popcorn, chips, stuff like that.]

[Sue just keeps on picking stuff up, in double because Ben's a big boy.]

Sure we can manage that.

[He hefts a couple of the cases of beer onto his shoulder and grabs a few snacks for himself.]

Y'wanna grab some ice cream f'yourself on the way out Suzie? It won't be that calorie burn'n stuff but...

[He shrugs and keeps his hands available, balancing everything Sue hands over without trouble. They've done this plenty.]

...Do you think I need it?

[Choose your words carefully, Ben.]

[Ahahaha, and Clint is just going to stay out of this argument altogether. See him standing awkwardly pretending to look at Soda.]

Nope. That stuff was just delicious. Really Suzie, y'know the only woman prettier than you is Alicia.

[You just saved yourself a trip from the clinic. G'job]

Clint, can you grab some chocolate ice cream? It'll be good with dessert.

Sure.

[Yeah, Clint is going to tread so ver carefully around Sue, you can't imagine.]

With dessert? Whatcha mak'n?

[He is so very curious. And so very much trying to change the subject.]

For you two? Nothing.

[A smirk, and she walks towards the door]

Well... in that case I should get more ice-cream.

...Cold, Suzie. Real cold.

[Still, he'd walked into that one. He rumbles a laugh and looks over to Clint.]

Rocky road?

...Rocky road...

Can be if you want it.

[He's grinning widely.]

Sometimes yer worse than Johnny.

[He snorts a laugh and shakes his head at both of them.]
